Ruches de l’Abloux

Sustainable, nature-first beekeeping in the heart of the Indre.

We are incredibly proud to introduce our local partner and neighbor: Ruches de l’Abloux, an exceptional artisanal apiary located in the southern Indre region, right on the border of the beautiful Brenne National Natural Park (Parc Naturel Régional de la Brenne). Managed with a deep, uncompromising love for nature and biodiversity, the well-being of the bees always comes first here, long before the production of honey or wax.

Beekeeping in Harmony with Nature

At Ruches de l’Abloux, apiculture is treated as an art form and an ecological mission. Their bee colonies are gently placed throughout the natural landscape, with a maximum of only two hives next to each other to prevent stress and keep the bees healthy.

What makes Ruches de l’Abloux truly unique:

  • Traditional Straw Hives

Starting in 2026, they are gradually transitioning from wooden hives to traditional straw beehives. They weave these historic hives themselves using hand-harvested straw from their own home-grown winter rye.

  • Pure, Natural Honey

They produce exquisite summer honey (zomerhoning) and creamy honey (crèmehoning), harvested with absolute respect for the colony’s natural cycle.

  • Beeswax & Craftsmanship

Beyond pure honey, they craft beautiful handmade beeswax candles and host fantastic workshops, including straw weaving and candle-making.
