Recently, we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming “the girls” back home; our magnificent Simmental and Limousin cows. And there’s truly nothing like the sight of a healthy herd returning from the pasture.
At Earl Les Fromentaux, we take immense pride in our livestock. Whether it’s a 850 kg Simmental cow nursing her calf or our best-friend duo; one a foot taller than the other but inseparable nonetheless. Our animals are raised with the respect and care they deserve. This dedication is exactly why we are known as a premier local producer of high-quality beef from Angus and Limousin crosses.

Your Local Stop on the A20

For those traveling through France or living locally, our Farm Shop is a hidden gem located just 6 minutes from A20 exit 19. We are perfectly situated for international tourists heading south or locals looking to fill their kitchens with honest, “Field to Fork” produce.

Our shop has been bustling lately! It is a joy to meet new customers every weekend; people who share our passion for real food and love to cook. We offer more than just meat; from Sue’s famous cakes to seasonal produce, every item tells a story of rural professional excellence.

Open for business!

To all my customers and friends, I would like to thank you all for your kind words of encouragement both publicly and privately.
It is very comforting to know that so many of you understand the pressure of juggling family and a business.
So many things have shaped what Les Fromentaux is today, and will continue to change and direct the business in the future.   I would like to ask for your continued support and to tell you I will be publishing dates for Sunday dinner at the farm in the next week.
All meat (with the exception of lamb) is available to order and pick up at the farm, and the dates for the beef will be available shortly. We will be doing the Christmas hampers again this year as well as all oven-ready poultry.

Holiday Hampers and Barbecue Boxes: The Taste of the Indre

Whether you are settling into a local gîte for the summer or hosting a family gathering in the Indre, our Holiday Hampers and Barbecue Boxes are designed to make your stay delicious. We’ve updated our offerings to include even more variety from our own fields.

Our boxes now feature our signature Angus and Limousin cross beef, hung for a minimum of 14 days for maximum flavor. For that authentic “taste of home,” we also include our on-farm butchered English-style sausages and bacon, made using traditional techniques right here in Celon.

Gîte & Lake Owners

Enhance your guests’ stay with a welcome hamper delivered to your door. Contact us at info@earllesfromentaux.com to order.

We are offering a hamper delivery service to local gites and holiday homes. Our gite boxes will include some of the basic essentials so that guests enjoy a tasty breakfast after a long drive, especially handy when the shops might not be open the following day!

Our holiday hampers are very flexible and can include cheeses, hams, wine and beer. We will also deliver a selection of prepared meals, or a BBQ box! The Barbecue boxes include a hand-picked selection of meats from the farm, as well as side salads and burger buns.

All these goodies can be ordered in advance and offered as a Welcome pack by the Gite owner, or holiday makers can contact us directly. We offer free delivery within 40km of the farm, for orders of 60€ or more.

For delivery outside of this area, or for special diets or celebration cakes, it’s a good idea to call us and see what can be arranged.

Come and see us at the Farm – there’ll be plenty to eat and drink plus some fun activities for the children!

We will keep you posted about this years Open Farm Day as soon as we know the date. 

 

You can help us feed the lambs and meet some of our cows, sheep and rabbits.

A small market will be selling beef, lamb, wine, beer, vegetables, cheese, honey and plants for your garden.

Events & Pie-Nights 2018

Plenty of dates in the diary to come and see us and try some of our pies, sausages and other produce!

To pre-order and collect items at any of the venues below, please fill out the Order Form and I’ll get back to you to confirm details.

Every second tuesday of the month, we will do a Pie Night at Saint Leger Magnazeix, from 6pm – 8:30pm. 9.50€ per person.

Every second Saturday of the month we will do a Pie Night at Champsac, from 6pm – 8:30pm. 9.50€ per person.

(And when the weather gets a bit warmer we will sart organizing some events at the farm.)

APRIL 2018:

  • We will be present at the Tendu night market on the 21st of april, from 5pm – 9pm
  • Getting into the spring spirit with our very first festival ! We have a chalet at the Festival Printemps de Bourges this year where we will be cooking home grown beef burgers, chilli and potatoes, and maybe a few pasties ! (from the 25th – 29th of April

A New Year at the Farm: Growth and Gratitude

As we move deeper into the year, life at Earl Les Fromentaux is busier than ever. Our philosophy remains simple: “We grow what we feed.” By harvesting our own crops to raise our Angus and Limousin cattle, we ensure the quality you’ve come to expect from a professional local producer.

This year marks an exciting chapter for our Farm Shop and our “Farm to Fork” restaurant. We are celebrating the rhythm of the seasons with menus crafted from our own harvest. Whether it’s a slow-grown Limousin steak or a seasonal delight, every plate tells the story of our land in Celon, Indre.

We invite you to visit us 6 minutes from the A20 to see the progress of “the girls” and stock up on fresh farm produce.

How it all started in 2016

2016 presented a lot of new avenues that I, Sue, really wanted to follow. But I simply didn’t have enough hours in the day to do it all on my own.  I am now joined by Ellen who has quickly become my right hand ‘man’ (so to speak!).

Last year also saw the start of The Farmhouse Kitchen and the Pie Nights, which I’m delighted to say were an immediate success – our steak pies have gone down a treat!  In addition to the pies, we also take Sausages and Bacon to buy on the night and any pre-ordered meat for collection on the same evening. These new Pop-Up shops are working really well – you’ll find details of the next events on our Facebook page, but usually Le Champsac on the 3rd Saturday of the month, and in Saint-Léger-Magnazeix on the 2nd Tuesday of every month.

From March, we’ll also be offering lunches at the farm and private dining for up to 30 people.

Very important to me has always been the outside catering that we can offer, and last year we did our first few weddings!!  It was a little daunting at the start but we love doing them and the atmosphere is fabulous. We’ve had such lovely reviews too, it’s given us a real buzz to know how much people have really enjoyed the food.

After doing a very small amount of advertising, we have now booked a number of catering events for 2017 and some for 2018, so if you would be interested in us catering your event then getting in touch sooner rather than later would be advised.
